Phoenix Park is a Dublin park on Parkgate Street. Dubliners love to take a break for lunch, a jog or a stroll between noon and midday. Open from 10am to 5pm, the park is a small haven of peace, despite its location in the heart of the city.
The Irish are very proud of their park! Twice the size of Central Park, it features lakes, gardens, sports fields and even a zoo (Dublin Zoo)! It costs €16.50 to enter the park: a rather high price, but one that should delight children and animal lovers of all kinds! Lions, giraffes, elephants… There’ll be plenty to marvel at!
Renowned for its peace and tranquility, the park is also home to the President of the Republic of Ireland and the U.S. Ambassador… Sumptuous mansions, but slightly isolated to avoid too much proximity to walkers.
Generally speaking, the park is ideal for a picnic, a bit of sport, or simply a stroll through nature’s rich flora and fauna. (If you’re lucky, you might even come across a deer!).
However, avoid isolated areas of the park at night: some corners can be dangerous after dark…
