An aquarium in the middle of Derry!
If you ever want to take a break from exploring the city of Derry, then don’t miss the Riverwatch Aquarium. You’ll discover some incredible aquatic species, as well as detailed explanations of the rarest specimens!
On the program: coalfish, crabs, starfish, freshwater and saltwater fish… A feast for the eyes, in enchantingly decorated aquariums divided into several zones!
You can choose between :
- Deep Sea: this zone is dedicated to deep-sea species living at great depths. Strange but fascinating species!
- The Lakes exhibit: an area dedicated to the people who live in Ireland’s lakes! These magnificent species are the envy of anglers!
- Lough exhibit: an area dedicated to underwater wildlife. Here you can admire magnificent stingrays, eels and lobsters!
- the Rockpool exhibit: this area is devoted to shellfish. You’ll be amazed at the amazing shapes of shrimps, periwinkles and hermit crabs.
- The River exhibit: this area offers an overview of freshwater species. Salmon, pike… You’ll get a good idea of what’s on Ireland’s lakes and rivers!
The aquariums are very well maintained, and the guides rather friendly. There are also a number of activities for children to liven up their visit!
