The Altar Wedge Tomb dolmen dates back to the end of the Stone Age. Over 3.5 meters long, the dolmen is made up of 2 distinct parts, forming a semi-circular enclosure.
Excavations in 1989 revealed traces of human bones, as well as cavities dug underneath, with numerous offerings, such as shells and pottery. The site is thought to have been reused during the Bronze Age, and to have been the object of rituals during Celtic and medieval Irish times.
Today, the site is still intact, and can be visited free of charge. The dolmen is spectacular, consisting of very long tables supported by smaller megaliths placed vertically. Perfectly balanced, facing the sea! The charm of the place is undeniable, and particularly relaxing.
