The Barnett Demesne

Irish parks and gardens
Un champ de jonquilles du Barnett Demesne - Kathryn Cochrane - cc

Barnett Demesne is a pretty wooded park in Belfast, located on the grounds of Malone House. Named after William Barnett, the manor’s last owner, the park is particularly popular with families, joggers and walkers. Known for its flower-filled grounds, the site is a haven of peace despite its proximity to Belfast city center.

Strolling through Barnett Demesne

A park famous for its fields of daffodils!

Barnett Demesne is the ideal place to relax and enjoy nature. It includes an arboretum, a daffodil garden (very impressive when in bloom!), marshes, meadows, woods for orienteering races and children’s play areas.

The area is beautiful, and ideal for a jog, a picnic, a bike ride or a siesta in the shade of the trees. The area is so wild that it’s not impossible to come across rabbits, badgers, red squirrels and an impressive array of wild flowers.

Numerous signposted footpaths offer the perfect opportunity to organize fun hikes.
