The Derryveagh Mountains are located in County Donegal, Ireland. This is a major mountain range, whose highest peak is Errigal Mountain, 749 meters above sea level. The chain offers magnificent panoramic views of the region, and will delight hikers in search of wide-open spaces!
The Derryveagh Mountains are without doubt one of Ireland’s most important mountain ranges. The peaks are numerous and imposing, occupying a large part of Glenveagh National Park.
Although some peaks are clearly inaccessible, you’ll be able to climb the less demanding mountains. Always bring good walking shoes, a rucksack, a windbreaker, food and drink… and don’t forget the essential camera to capture the best views!
Among the most beautiful peaks, don’t miss Errigal Mountain, the highest mountain in the Derryveagh Mountains: it’s magnificent and has a superb ruined church below: the Dunlewey Church, now abandoned and bringing an added charm to the region!
