The highest mountain on the Beara Peninsula

Hungry Hill is the highest peak in the Caha mountain range on the Beara Peninsula. The mountain straddles County Kerry and County Cork, although its peak leans more towards Cork. The mountain is magnificent, and especially popular for its hiking trails, as well as the existence of a superb prehistoric cairn on its summit.
A number of standing stones are also located to the south-east of the mountain summit: a must for aficionados of megalithic sites.

In addition, the view from the summit is magnificent, allowing you to admire the Coomadayallig and Coomarkane lakes, which flow together into a vertiginous waterfall, Mare’s Tail, considered to be the highest waterfall in the country! An exceptional spectacle, but only for the very best walkers. Don’t go off on your own, and don’t hesitate to pack warm clothes, a windbreaker and enough food and water to get you there and back.
