Allihies is one of the friendliest villages in County Cork! Set on a mountain on the Beara Peninsula, facing the ocean, it is recognizable by its ultra-colorful town center and uniquely designed façades! Allihies enjoys an exceptional location that attracts several thousand tourists every year!

A village nestled between the mountains and the ocean

Allihies has a particularly rich history when it comes to mining. It was one of the main copper-producing sites during the 19th century. The mine ruins can still be visited today and are among the village’s main attractions!

Beyond its historical aspect, Allihies is a small haven of peace and tranquility! Here, everyone knows each other and makes a living from tourism and fishing! The Irish pubs are welcoming, as is the cuisine served in the local restaurants!

It should be noted that every year, the village organizes the “Allihies Festival”. Held every 15 August, it is a horse-racing festival organized on the plains separating the village from the ocean.
You will have the opportunity to attend numerous live Irish music performances during this event, while discovering some of the finest Irish horse breeds! All this takes place in an exceptional setting, in a lively and friendly atmosphere!
