Visiter The Port of Kinvara.

If you love small, authentic fishing harbors, then we recommend Kinvara, where you can enjoy the sea and sea-scented atmosphere. In Kinvara harbor, you’ll find small fishing boats, Galway hookers (traditional boats of the region), and an incredible sense of contact when it comes to being approached by these dear locals!

A port facing Galway Bay

Between docks, sailing boats and fishing boats, Kinvara harbor is a tidy little port, where locals come and go. Here you’ll find freshly caught fish for sale, as well as fishermen in search of good-natured conversation. Don’t hesitate to visit in the morning, when the boats bring their cargoes of fish back to the quayside: the spectacle is well worth the detour!

The port of Kinvara is both lively and tranquil. Don’t hesitate to take a seat in the yellow-fronted pub facing the port. From here, you can watch the boats come and go in Galway Bay, and enjoy a breathtaking view of Dunguaire Castle. A very busy spot in summer, but very pleasant indeed…
