Visit Torc Mountain

An accessible mountain for hikers

Torc Mountain is named after a Celtic legend in which the famous hero Finn McCool is said to have hunted a magical boar. He then shot the animal on this mountain. Torc meaning“boar” in Irish Gaelic, the mountain was named “Torc Mountain”, in reference to the legend.

The mountains are quite accessible, provided you’re a good walker. The difference in altitude can be considerable in places, and requires the utmost caution: don’t set off alone, and don’t forget to be well equipped (hiking boots, rucksack, water, food, etc.).

Once at the top, the view is exceptional, dominating the whole of Killarney National Park.
