Sir Davos Mervault? The name probably rings a bell. Imagine three dragons, their mother Daenerys and a country devastated by a mad race for the Iron Throne… Did you find it? Liam Cunningham has become inseparable from the character he played on screen for several seasons in the Game of Thrones series.

Born in Dublin in June 1961, Liam Cunningham is one of five siblings. After starting out as an electrician in Ireland and then Zimbabwe, where he lived for three years, he turned to film. From 1992 onwards, the actor was busy casting and making films.
In 2006, he signed on for two films in which he co-stars with actor Cillian Murphy (Breakfast on Pluto and Le Vent se lève – which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes the same year). In 2008, he starred in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, followed by Hunger opposite Michael Fassbender. In 2010, he joins the cast of Clash of the Titans, which also includes Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.
Liam also plays a number of small roles in British TV series, including Merlin and Doctor Who. In 2012, he joined the cast of Game of Thrones during its second season. The actor recounts how enthusiastically he welcomed the proposal:

On the occasion of the Game of Thrones exhibition organized in September 2015 at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Liam Cunningham confided once again in an interview about his recurring role as Sir Davos and da possible end in this globally acclaimed series :
I’d like to be there right to the end. But those bastards will probably kill me first. Look what they’ve done to Ned Stark!
