Fish cakes are an absolutely delicious Irish dish, rich in possibilities!

Traditionally, these fish cakes are dumplings of fresh fish and onions, dipped in a doughnut batter and pan-fried. The choice is yours: hake, haddock, cod, sea bass, cod… The possibilities are endless, and the Irish are imaginative enough to use all the fish in the country!

Most Irish pubs and restaurants offer local Irish cuisine at affordable prices! Admission is usually less than €7.

Generally speaking, Irish fish cakes are eaten with a sweet and sour, slightly spicy sauce called “sweet chili”. But you can also enjoy your dish with a squeeze of lemon or a tartar sauce!
