Visit Allihies

A village wedged between mountains and ocean

Allihies has a particularly strong mining history. In the 19th century, it was one of the world’s leading copper miners. The ruins of the mine can still be visited today, and are one of the village’s star attractions!

History aside, Allihies is a haven of peace and tranquility! Here, everyone knows everyone else, and makes a living from tourism and fishing! The Irish pubs are warm and welcoming, as is the cuisine of the local restaurants!

Every year, the village organizes the Allihies Festival. Held every August 15, it’s a festival of horse races held on the plains separating the village from the ocean.

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy live Irish music during this event, while discovering the most beautiful breeds of Irish horses! All this in an exceptional setting, in a lively and friendly atmosphere!
