The Ballynoe Stone Circle is located near the village’s disused railway station. A long trail leads to the site, which is free to enter.

The stone circle is essentially made up of 50 different-sized granite blocks. According to archaeologists, the site was once a cairn, covered with earth and grass (a covered corridor tomb). The men of the time used them to deposit the cremated bones of their deceased in each room. The researchers also found some pottery, as well as a few stone tools…

The site is exceptional, and still a source of great mystery… Don’t hesitate to take a stroll: you’ll soon be charmed by the silence that reigns here!
