Glanmore Lake is a superb lake on Ireland’s Beara Peninsula. Set in a valley criss-crossed by dry-stone walls, the site is silent and totally wild. Many anglers dream of casting their line here! The lake’s charm and beauty are truly captivating!
Lake Glanmore can be admired by taking the R574, and following the road to Healy Pass, a mountain pass that overlooks the lake at 334 meters above sea level. The view over the lake is one of the most beautiful on the Beara Peninsula.
The lake lies deep in the valley and is several kilometers long. Surrounded by mountains and Irish moorland, the lake is a favorite with anglers, who like to fish for trout, pike and gudgeon. The lake is said to be rather deep, and rich in fish and other large carnivores.
Fishing is permitted both from the shore and by boat. Some fishing guides offer their boats for a daily fee…
If you don’t like fishing, you can take a short hike along its banks. Don’t forget your hiking boots, a drink and a bivouac, and plenty of time to enjoy!
