Let’s face it: Larrybane is one of the region’s leading tourist attractions. Renowned for the beauty of its cliffs and beaches, the area has the advantage of being wild and populated by a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Such is its beauty that the series Games of Throne (The Iron Throne) even used the location for filming its episodes!

For the more adventurous, we recommend putting on your hiking boots and exploring the bay from the top of the cliffs, then down to the beaches. The views are breathtaking, and you’ll be able to admire Sheep Island, a joyful island in the bay, surrounded by threatening reefs.

You can also admire the astonishing limestone quarry built into the cliff face. The cliffs were mined and blasted for almost a century, before being abandoned… Some of the blasting caused the rock to become brittle, so don’t venture out on the dubious rocks, as many landslides are still occurring today.

For the curious, there’s a lovely cave with impressive stalagmites. Access is a little tricky, but should delight geology buffs!

Finally, if you’re not afraid of the cold, don’t hesitate to take your hike as far as the Carrick a Rede Bridge, a rope bridge suspended in the void, which connects you to Carrick Island.

The show is truly magnificent, and offers a complete panorama of the bay and the cliffs of Larrybane!
