Luggala is about 45 kilometers (28 miles) southwest of Dublin. Magnificent, with Lough Tay below, the area is great for hiking, but also for climbing, or simply for admiring the beauty of the panorama!

Mainly composed of granite, the mountain is very popular with climbers. Ask at the Wicklow Mountains National Park Visitor Centre. They can advise you on the best route to take.

For walkers, the site lists over 188 trails of all levels of difficulty. All in all, a great time in idyllic surroundings: sports enthusiasts will be delighted! A word of advice: don’t venture out on your own, and bring a good rucksack and good walking shoes.

One last thing: Luggala is a popular filming location. This is where the “Vikings” series and the “Excalibur” film were shot.
