Seapoint (Gaelic: Rinn na Mara) is a small waterfront located between Blackrock and Monkstown in County Dublin. It’s a magnificent spot with a really nice view of the sea and Dublin Bay, and it’s very popular for its beaches!
Seapoint is designed as a gigantic pontoon bridge along the sea and coastal beaches. Its main attraction is its panoramic view over Dublin Bay, but it also boasts a pontoon bridge, allowing strollers to stroll along while admiring the setting. Best of all, Seapoint provides access to lovely sandy beaches, where you can swim on warm August days (otherwise, the water is too cold).
At the far end is a Martello tower, dating from the Napoleonic Wars. The latter enabled the British to keep an eye on the sea, and identify any possible French attack.
Today, the tower is still intact, and has become the headquarters of the Genealogical Society of Ireland.
A lovely spot to enjoy the sea!
