Slievemore Mountain is a mountain on Achill Island. Culminating at an altitude of 671 metres, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the island’s surroundings and the ocean. A real challenge for hikers, the site is generally a lovely place to take a stroll, and even offers visitors some magnificent archaeological sites!

For beyond its marked trails, the mountain’s southern slope is home to a magnificent abandoned village bearing the same name as the mountain: Slievemore.
This village dates back to the 12th century, but was occupied until the 20th century, when it was finally abandoned. Exceptional, it has a dark charm, and will delight lovers of history and traditional Irish architecture.
If you prefer commando trekking, don’t hesitate to set off fully equipped. The view from the summit is fantastic, and should reward your efforts!
