Slievemore Mountain will appeal to hiking enthusiasts and lovers of history and archaeological remains alike.

For beyond its marked trails, the mountain’s southern slope is home to a magnificent abandoned village bearing the same name as the mountain: Slievemore.

This village dates back to the 12th century, but was occupied until the 20th century, when it was finally abandoned. Exceptional, it has a dark charm, and will delight lovers of history and traditional Irish architecture.

If you prefer commando trekking, don’t hesitate to set off fully equipped. The view from the summit is fantastic, and should reward your efforts!
