A prehistoric construction

Muckish Cairn is a stone mound erected in Neolithic times. Today, the building stands north of the summit of Muckish Mountain, in the form of a mound of white stone.

This imposing structure was once used as a prehistoric tomb, and for ceremonies in Celtic times.

Researchers believe that this stony mound was used by men to get closer to the sky. A better way to pay tribute to their beliefs…
