Potato farl is a rather easy bread to make. It combines simple ingredients and is a pleasure to eat! The Irish like to eat it for breakfast, as part of their Irish breakfast. They then add a little sugar, butter or jam.
In the mouth, the result is very similar to French toast or a potato fritter. Many local pastry shops sell them for just a few euros. Best eaten warm!
Recipe: The potato farl
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized potatoes
- 70 g melted butter
- a cup of flour
- 2 pinches salt
- vegetable oil
Preparation
- Wash and peel the potatoes.
- Cook them in boiling salted water.
- Purée them after draining, then return them to a saucepan over low heat.
- Mix, gradually adding the flour.
- Knead by hand to form 2 separate balls.
- Roll them out and cut out triangles.
- In a frying pan, simply brown them in a little oil.
- Serve warm!
