Eightercua Stone Row is a fine stone alignment dating back to 1200 BC. A rather imposing structure, it is found south of the town of Waterville in Ireland, on the route to the Ring of Kerry. Archaeologists believe that this site marks the boundary of a larger archaeological complex, which has now disappeared. For specialists, it could even be the tomb of Scéine, who was married to the leader of the Milesian invaders, Amergin mac Míled. A must for lovers of megaliths… and legends.
Eightercua Stone Row covers 7.60 meters of ground in an east-west alignment. Its highest stone is 2.74 metres high.
Surrounding artifacts, including the remains of a possible tomb and an ancient enclosure, suggest that the site had a ritual function…
Beyond the scientific truth, many legends surround this stone alignment. In particular, that this would be where Scéine,Amergin mac Míled ‘s wife, would be laid to rest. According to legend, this man, leader of the invading Milesians, chased the ancient kings of Ireland into the Netherworld.
