If you like botany, and discovering rare and varied plant species, then don’t hesitate to visit the Doneraile Wildlife Park in County Cork. The latter was laid out in the 18th century, and contains countless plants and other vegetation… What better way to get out and about in the Irish wilderness! A real treat, for a much-appreciated break from nature!
Covering 166 hectares, the Doneraile Wildlife Park offers enormous potential for walking and discovery! Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll or a real hike, there’s a wide range of circuits to choose from!
As you follow the trails, you’ll soon come across magnificent plants, as well as bodies of water that make you want to picnic on the shore.
If you’re lucky, you’ll come across some magnificent wild deer, which inhabit the park on all sides. You’ll also come across a building currently being renovated: Doneraile Court, the former home of the St Leger family. It is currently closed to visitors, but is due to open shortly.
Don’t hesitate to equip yourself with hiking boots, and a rucksack with everything you need to keep warm and have something to eat: you’ll soon be seduced by the surrounding scenery, and always want to go further.
