The Maumturks Mountains are a Connemara mountain range in County Galway. Rising to an altitude of 667 metres, these mountains are a gigantic playground for hiking and climbing enthusiasts. The surrounding landscapes are simply breathtaking, and will allow you to discover wild Connemara in all its splendour!
The Maumturks Mountains (called Na Sléibhte Mhám Toirc in Gaelic) are suitable for hikers of all levels. Its trails are easily accessible, provided you have the stamina for a few short, steep inclines. However, there’s no great difficulty in surveying them, and you can easily reach the summit of one of the Maumturks Mountains in less than a day!
Arriving at your destination, you’ll have the opportunity to admire a fabulous panorama overlooking the peat bogs and russet moorlands of Connemara. You’ll discover absolutely magnificent colors, playing with the reflections of the lakes and rivers meandering calmly below. A little marvel that would be cruel not to photograph!
Nevertheless, we recommend that you take care during your excursion: as the rules require, never set off alone, and don’t forget to bring good walking shoes, a sweater, water and a sturdy picnic in case you feel peckish! Once you’ve got all these elements, all you have to do is get started!
