If you love breathtaking cliffs, then we recommend heading for the Kerry Cliffs! These cliffs are not far from Portmagee, on the famous Iveragh peninsula, and are on the Ring of Skellig circuit. On the programme: ultra-cut landscapes, exceptional ocean vistas, and an incredible spectacle of nature’s power! The big advantage: they’re just as spectacular as the Cliffs of Moher, but far less well-known!
The tour begins by parking your vehicle in a specially designated private parking lot. Count €4 per person (not per vehicle).
You’ll then have to walk 300 metres to reach the start of the cliffs. The view from here is breathtaking: you’ll see the Skellig Islands in the distance, and be totally captivated by the force of the waves, heard below on the cliffs.
Don’t hesitate to follow the trail: it’s about 800 meters long and fully signposted. The site has been designed to guarantee your safety: guardrails, embankments… You’ll be able to take a leisurely stroll without having to worry about your children!
Don’t miss the explanatory panels (in English only), which tell you more about the cliffs and the birds that nest there. Many species of seabirds make their home in the rocky cavities: shearwaters, puffins, gulls, etc.!
Don’t hesitate to take photos: the sky and its colors are particularly changeable and magnificent!
To make the most of it, we advise you to visit in the late afternoon, if possible in fine weather. Don’t forget to bundle up warmly, and bring a windbreaker: it’s blowing hard up there!
Without doubt the most beautiful site in the Ring of Kerry: the Cliffs of Moher are the envy of many!
