The Sheep’s Head Way

An 88km circuit spread over several days

The Sheep’s Head Way is a hiking trail for walkers of all abilities. Although some sections are more difficult due to their steep gradients, the whole is pretty easy to do, provided you’re properly equipped.

The circuit winds along the coast between cliffs, beaches and rocks. The trail is well-groomed, with some steps carved out of the rock. Along the way, you’ll come across the villages of Durrus, Ahakista and Kilcrohane. Enough to make a few stops between 2 walking sessions, before resuming your journey!

Allow 3-4 days to complete the tour. There are numerous B&Bs scattered all over the Peninsula if you’re looking for a comfortable night’s sleep instead of camping.
