Do you like U2 and cycling? There’s a tailor-made activity just for you! U2’s Dublin is your chance to follow in the footsteps of the famous Irish rock band… by exploring Dublin by bike! It’s a great program, which promises to take you to the emblematic places in the Irish capital that have shaped Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr!
Did you know? The story of U2 began in Dublin. It was there that the band was formed, and became the legend it is today. Dublin’s environment and culture have had a major influence on their music. The city has shaped them and contributed to their success.
That’s why U2’s Dublin offers you the chance to revisit the places that left their mark on the band. All you have to do is hop on a bike (provided by See Dublin by Bike, the organization in charge of the tour) and follow the guide!
The tour will take you to Windmill Lane, the recording studio where their first classic songs were recorded. You’ll then pass through Hanover Quay, another studio that has recorded more recent tracks.
The walk then passes the Bonavox hearing aid store on North Earl Street, the place that gave Paul Hewson his worldwide nickname.
You’ll also see the Grand Canal lock where the cover of “October” was captured. The journey then continues to St Patrick’s Grammar School, where the superstar was expelled as a teenager…
The bike tour also takes in the city’s main sights: Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse, Grand Canal Dock, O’Connell Street, General Post Office, College Green, Georgian streets and many more.
Take a tour of the premises, discover the boys’ town and hear anecdotes about Ireland’s most popular rock band! It’s a great time, we enjoy pedaling through the streets of Dublin, and the guide has a lot to say about the group. A must for sports fans of Irish rock’n’roll!
